Mr. Kelley 5-8

Welcome to our Class!

Greetings in the name of our Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
This week, our 7/8 Bible class completed our study of Saul's Conversion. Saul's conversion assures us that God's forgiveness and message is for all people. We take great comfort that God has called us from eternity to be His children. Just as God used Paul to share the Gospel with many people, may He use us to share that message with those around us. Please remember that each Tuesday is our topical Bible study day, and each Wednesday is our study of the four Gospels as we study Jesus our Messiah.

During Math 8, we are studying two-way frequency tables. On Thursday, we will have a math activity day.  Friday will be a review day, and our topic assessment will be given next Monday. Algebra started a new semester this past week through their ALHSO (Area Lutheran High School Online) accounts in Moodle.  Please make sure students are following the course calendar while diligently following the instructor's directions.
The students are working in groups to present on the colonies that we are studying in our U.S. History classes. The students will present next week.  We will also be taking a map test on the colonies next week.

The National Geographic Bee for grades 4-8 will be coming up this week on January 18 (Preliminary Competition) and 22 (Final Competition). If you would like your child to study, you may go to the National Geographic Bee website and click on Study Corner. There are also a variety of apps in the App Store that would assist with facts and details relating to history and geography.
In Art 5-8, we are continuing our study of Shel Silverstein. The students will be creating a drawing and poem in the style of Shel Silverstein.  This project will be due next Wednesday.

During Literature 7/8, we began our novel study of Jamestown: Blood on the River. This is a historical fiction novel that is set during the colonization of Jamestown. Even though there are short chapters, the students do have a variety of activities they will be required to complete during our study of this novel.

Thank you for your partnership in the training and instruction of His little ones. If you have any questions, please let us know.  We are here to assist you and your family.  May God continue to bless your week.

Thank you again for your partnership in your child's education. Your support of a quality, Christian education is greatly appreciated!

In His Service,

Mr. Kelley
