Mr. Kelley 5-8
Greetings in the name of our Savior Jesus!
This week in our topical Bible class, our class studied how we learn the Truth. We learned that as we continue to gather around God's Word in church, school, and the home, we grow in God's Word which equips us to share God's Truth with others around us though our Words and Actions. In our New Testament Bible class, we are studying the announcement and birth of Jesus our Savior.
During art class over the next couple of weeks, the students will be studying the style of LeRoy Neiman. The students will create their own "action athlete" in his style by using acrylic paints and a plastic sheet. Please visit the lower level of the school building to view the students' "subway art". The art masterpieces turned out great!
The students are studying settlers moving westward into Washington by utilizing trails such as the Oregon Trail. The students get to experience this trip by not only reading it in their history books but also by playing the simulation game "The Oregon Trail".
The students are nearing the end of Part 3 in their novels Julie of the Wolves. Our assessment will be next week Friday. After this novel, the students will begin a unit on the Reformation. What a great way to celebrate the 500th anniversary. A new movie will also be released November 1.
Please continue to monitor your child's Accelerated Reader program points. 7th graders are required to gain at least 21 points, and 8th graders are required to gain at least 24 points. These will be due prior to the end of the 1st quarter, October 27. Students will receive incentives as they meet and exceed their goal each quarter.
Thank you for your extra support during this week of MAP testing. The students did their very best with their gifts and abilities from their LORD. The test results should be coming home early October. We will discuss these results with you at our Parent/Teacher conferences in early November. God's continued blessings as we work together to train His little ones for time and eternity!
In His Service,Mr. Kelley
